    “It feels like a treehouse”

I bought it mainly for its weight but also for the easy set up. It feels like a treehouse, windows on all sides for a nice breeze and the windows on top are great for getting 360° views. Only takes 15min to set up, no leakage when raining and with the window awnings over 2 of the windows, you can have the windows open when raining without getting rain inside. All in all, really happy with the purchase!

    “Compliments My Rivian Perfectly”

I’ve used a large hard shell rooftop tent for a number of seasons but was forced to leave it on the vehicle year round due to its weight. When I discovered the Air Cruiser’s weight I was cautiously optimistic. This would allow me to remove it off season and not have the wear and tear from taking it everywhere. I was also looking forward to being able to use covered garages again.

When the Air Cruiser arrived, the installation on the vehicle couldn’t be simpler. We were off on our first camping trip with it the next day. While it hadn’t been a factor in my decision to purchase the tent, initially, I underestimated the value of the use of compressed air as the structure for the frame. I ended up finding it so easy to set up and take down the tent that I was able to use the vehicle during the day when with the previous tent I would leave it set up on the vehicle and that was that, a significant compromise with roof top tents. With the Air Cruiser auto-inflating, it gave me more time to do other camp setup tasks.

My kids sleep in the tent while I’m in the vehicle below. They love how tall the interior volume is and how the large sunroof allows for light and visibility. I could barely get them down for breakfast. I like that there are no support rods to hold up canopies, which on my last tent would pop out and damaged the roof more than once. The Air Cruiser compliments my Rivian perfectly.

“This "Downsize" Was Such An Upgrade”

I downsized from a tear drop trailer with bells and whistles I never used, to my Air Cruiser. I intuitively felt it was the right decision for my Subaru Forester, but this “downsize” was SUCH an UPGRADE!!! I am a single mom to a 5-year old boy. This roof top tent is perfect for us and my draw to dispersed camping. It keeps us mobile to go beyond just campgrounds. I feel an extra sense of security being elevated off the ground, and it is SO easy to set up once installed on the roof. My son absolutely loves it.

“The Air Cruiser Has Been Everything We Hoped”

My son and I decided on the air-cruiser because of its weight and use of air to set it up. This intrigued us and so far it has been great. There was a slight problem with sliding the support bracket on one side and I could not be more pleased with the awesome customer service. It might be the best I’ve ever experienced, just amazing.

We have only used it for one overnight trip so far but it was great. The light weight makes it very manageable for 2 people to lift and mount on your vehicle. Sets up in about 4 minutes, large interior, clear roof for star gazing if wanted, lights and pockets to hold things. And the build quality appears excellent.

We plan to use this RTT for over-landing adventures in our Nissan Pro-4X pickup. We have a hard rolling bed cover and mounted it over the top of it and it is working great. It sits below the cab level for less wind resistance and possible dangers. We lined it up on one side of the bed so there is still room for gear on the other side - great for a kayak, SUP or outside shelter.

So far the Air-Cruiser has been everything we hoped for with better than expected customer service. I expect to get many years of use and wonderful memories with it. Let the journeys begin!

“It Literally Takes 20 Seconds... ”

I really like the air cruiser for a number of reasons. My brother got a very complicated trailer with a pop-up tent, and it takes him more than an hour, with two people working, to get it all set up. After my initial tinkering to get the air cruiser mounted, it literally takes 20 seconds to undo the straps and flip it open. Then it inflates in eight minutes by itself while you are doing something else. And then it’s done! I also really like the design, I have not tried it in the rain yet, but it looks like it will be good for that as well.

“My Two Young Daughters Love It! ”

I have been a loyal Cinch fan for many years. I was one of the first Kickstarter backers of their first product the original cinch tent about 6 years ago. That tent has kept our family warm, safe, and dry all this time, and the fact it was a popup saved us so much time setting up that we were thrilled.

When we saw the Air Cruiser announcement, I was in. If it provided the flexibility and same level of support and ease of use as the original tent we were in. As it was it's so easy to set up and my two young daughters love it. The blow-up aspect, the panoramic views and the LED lighting are great. I feel bad for my original cinch tent as it's not getting the love the Air Cruiser is at the moment. But we are not getting rid of that tent yet. We may just keep them both and for old time's sake I may just set it out back and sleep in it for the memories.

“Set Up And Pack Up Is The Quickest & Easiest Ever”

Set up and pack up is the quickest/ easiest I have ever had while camping. I was pleasantly surprised by how comfy the built in air mattress actually was where if wanting to travel light I don't feel the need for anything additional on top of my sleeping bag. My first test run was on a very wet and windy North Yorkshire night. Felt very sturdy and we kept dry there was dampness on the inside of walls but was more condensation than us getting leaked on. The built in light strip Is a great touch and the more we looked around the tent the more we appreciated the attention to the small details.`

Frequently Asked...

Popular

What does my vehicle need to carry the Air Cruiser? Will It Fit My Vehicle?

Just a pair of crossbars. They need to be rated to at least 113 lbs (the tent's weight), spaced between 31 and 41 inches apart (centre to centre), and no wider than 4.7 inches. You'll also want at least 2 inches of clear space under the bars so you can fit and tighten the mounting clamps. Most vehicles meet these requirements with ease.

How does setup actually work? Setup & First Use

Take off the weatherproof cover, plug the pump into your car's 12V socket (engine running), press one button, and the tent inflates itself, switching off automatically when it's done. Come back a few minutes later and it's pitched. Packing down is the same in reverse.

How many people does it sleep? Sleeping & Living

Two adults comfortably, with a sleeping area around 83 x 51 inches, a touch wider than a standard double bed. Plenty of couples fit a small child or a dog in there too.

Can I pay monthly? Payment & Financing

Yes. US customers can pay with Shop Pay Installments at checkout, starting at 0% APR over 6 or 12 monthly payments for qualified buyers, or 6-24 month plans. Rates from 0-36% APR, subject to eligibility. You can prequalify at checkout in about a minute with no impact on your credit score.

How much wind can it handle? Weather & Seasons

It's tested to 34 mph (Force 7, a near gale). We don't recommend any rooftop tent in conditions beyond that, and we'd rather tell you that than pretend otherwise.

Will It Fit My Vehicle?

What does my vehicle need to carry the Air Cruiser?

Just a pair of crossbars. They need to be rated to at least 113 lbs (the tent's weight), spaced between 31 and 41 inches apart (centre to centre), and no wider than 4.7 inches. You'll also want at least 2 inches of clear space under the bars so you can fit and tighten the mounting clamps. Most vehicles meet these requirements with ease.

Do my crossbars need to be completely flat?

No. A slight curve is typical of factory aero bars, and the Air Cruiser's U-shaped brackets clamp around the bar profile rather than needing a dead-flat surface.

Does it work on pickup trucks?

Yes, two ways: crossbars on the cab roof, or a bed rack with crossbars over the tray. If you run a tonneau cover, a cab-roof mount keeps it fully usable; whether a bed rack can coexist with your tonneau depends on the specific rack, so ask us and we'll check yours.

My roof's load rating is only 120-165 lbs. Is that enough?

Almost certainly, and here's why: the stated limit applies while driving, when the only load is the 113 lb tent. When you're parked and sleeping in it, which is the only time it's occupied, a vehicle roof can typically support around five times its stated limit. The tent itself is rated for 496 lbs of occupancy when pitched.

Does it fit full platform racks?

Yes, as long as two of the platform's cross members can act as the bars: spaced 31-41 inches apart, no wider than 4.7 inches, with roughly 2 inches of clearance beneath them for fitting the clamps. That clearance is worth measuring on low-profile platforms before you buy.

Does the Air Cruiser come with crossbars?

No, because every vehicle needs a different set. Any set meeting the spec above works; Thule and Yakima both make excellent options for virtually every vehicle, and any automotive or outdoor retailer can match a set to yours. Unsure? Email us your vehicle and we'll point you at the right setup before you buy.

Setup & First Use

How does setup actually work? Setup & First Use

Take off the weatherproof cover, plug the pump into your car's 12V socket (engine running), press one button, and the tent inflates itself, switching off automatically when it's done. Come back a few minutes later and it's pitched. Packing down is the same in reverse.

What powers the pump? Setup & First Use

Your vehicle's 12V socket with the engine running, or any portable power bank that delivers at least 4A continuous. The LED lights run separately from any USB-A port.

How do I get it onto the roof the first time? Setup & First Use

At 113 lbs, it's a comfortable two-person lift, the lightest tent in its class for exactly this reason. Doing it solo? A garage ceiling hoist (widely available, around $50-150) lifts it on and off single-handed and doubles as off-season storage.

Does the ladder stay attached? Setup & First Use

Yes, the telescopic ladder (adjusts 190-230cm) stays on the tent between trips, which makes every setup quicker. One important thing: the ladder is part of the tent's structure, supporting the fold-out section, so it must be fully extended and locked whenever the tent is open.

Can I leave it mounted on my car all season? Setup & First Use

Yes, that's how most owners run it. It's built for highway speeds and weather, and at 12.6 inches closed it's low-profile enough to live up there. Just check your clamps periodically, as you would any roof load.

Sleeping & Living

How many people does it sleep? Sleeping & Living

Two adults comfortably, with a sleeping area around 83 x 51 inches, a touch wider than a standard double bed. Plenty of couples fit a small child or a dog in there too.

Can I leave bedding inside when it's packed down? Sleeping & Living

A sleeping bag or flat-laid blanket travels happily inside the closed tent. Bulkier items, pillows, the Thermal Liner, ride in the vehicle and take seconds to lay back in at camp.

Can I mount a kayak or gear on top of the closed tent? Sleeping & Living

No, and it's a hard no for good reason: there are no mounting points on the shell, the soft cover isn't built to bear a strapped load, and the top folds over every time you deploy. The good news: the tent only needs two bars of your rack, so gear mounts beside it, or on a hitch carrier.

Weather & Seasons

How waterproof is it? Weather & Seasons

Completely waterproof as standard, no optional extras needed. The air-beam construction also means taut fabric that flexes and recovers in gusts rather than flapping or snapping like poled tents.

How much wind can it handle? Weather & Seasons

It’s tested to 34 mph (Force 7, a near gale), and that’s the figure we stand behind. In practice, customers have reported good performance in conditions beyond this, the air-beam construction means taut fabric that flexes and recovers in gusts rather than snapping, but beyond the tested range we can’t make promises, and no rooftop tent maker honestly can. If severe weather is forecast, pack down.

Can I camp in it below freezing? Weather & Seasons

Yes, with the right setup. The polycotton-blend fabric and air-beam walls (no cold metal frame through them) hold warmth noticeably better than thin nylon tents. For proper winter trips, add the Thermal Liner, a made-for-it insulation layer, and use the built-in vent hatch (approx. 3.5 inches) to duct in warm air from a diesel heater. That combination is how owners camp happily well below 32F.

Payment & Financing

Can I pay monthly? Payment & Financing

Yes. US customers can pay with Shop Pay Installments at checkout, starting at 0% APR over 6 or 12 monthly payments for qualified buyers, or 6-24 month plans. Rates from 0-36% APR, subject to eligibility. You can prequalify at checkout in about a minute with no impact on your credit score.

Is there a penalty for paying it off early? Payment & Financing

No. Pay off your plan whenever you like at no extra cost.

Security & Storage

Can someone steal it off my car? Security & Storage

The Air Cruiser ships with two locking nuts that replace standard mounting nuts and can't be removed with ordinary tools, which stops the opportunistic thief cold. Honest answer: like any vehicle security, a determined person with the right tool could eventually defeat it, true of virtually every rooftop tent made. In practice, theft of a mounted RTT is genuinely rare: the locks, the weight, and how slow and conspicuous removal would be all work against it. A security cable through the brackets adds another visible layer.

How do I store it in the off-season? Security & Storage

Flat in a dry place with nothing on top, and it's also safe stored on its side. The elegant answer is a garage ceiling hoist: the tent hangs flat overhead all winter, your floor stays clear, and in spring you drive under it and lower it straight onto the bars.
